Xiaoting Wang received the B.S. degree in optical engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Delaware, Newark.
She joined Bloomberg New Energy Finance in April 2012 as a solar analyst. She joined the Center of Energy and Environmental Policy, University of Delaware, in November 2011 as a post-doctoral researcher. Before that, she was with the Very High Efficiency Solar Cell (VHESC) project funded by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in electrical engineering of the University of Delaware as a Ph.D student. One research program is leading a group designing, fabricating, and developing measurement protocols for a lateral spectrum spitting middle concentration photovoltaic sub-module, which was confirmed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to have a record efficiency of 36.7%. Besides the work on the new concept, she also systematically quantified the efficiency losses and analyzed the real energy production in a traditional high-concentration photovoltaic module adopting monolithic multi-junction solar cells with a vertical spectrum splitting approach. After the two programs, she began analyzing the influence of module efficiency on the photovoltaic energy cost for different system configurations: flat plate stationary, flat plate tracking, and concentration photovoltaics. She had 16 publications during her Ph.D. and post-doctoral research.
