个人简介
Professor Woo Yin Ling is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University of Malaya and a consultant gynaecological oncologist in University Malaya Medical Centre. She completed her specialist and subspecialty training in gynaecological oncology and postdoctoral research degree in the UK and was conferred her PhD by Cambridge University. Yin Ling received many awards for her professional excellence including the Royal College of Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Gold Medal and the Cancer Research UK Gordon Hamilton Fairley Fellowship and more recently the FIGO award in recognition for her contribution to women's health in LMICs. As a clinician scientist, she describes her work as ‘Malaysian centric’, whether it be on an individual patient or policy level. Yin Ling is an international key opinion leader in the prevention and treatment of cervical cancer. She is currently the Malaysian country representative for the Asia-Oceania Research Organisation in Genital Infection and Neoplasia (AOGIN), member of the Asia Pacific Economic Consortium (APEC) and Commonwealth taskforce and sits in the educational committee at the International Papillomavirus Society (IPVS). Finally, having conceptualized and executed Program ROSE, she is now one of the founding trustees to ROSE Foundation (www.programrose.org).
Yin Ling's tireless efforts to improve gynaecological cancer outcomes is not limited to cervical cancer but extends to the management, research and advocacy for women with ovarian cancer. She is the lead clinician in the MaGiC study (Mainstreaming Genetic Counselling for Genetic Testing of BRCA1 and BRCA2 in Ovarian Cancer Patients in Malaysia), a nationwide collaborative study. More recently, she became the country lead for the Every Woman Study (TM) designed and led by the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition with the aim of identifying the challenges and perspectives of ovarian cancer patients from LMICs.
Yin Ling's training as a clinician scientist in the UK and subsequently as an academic gynaecological oncologist in Malaysia provides her with unique insights to identify issues and implement policies that can make a real difference to women. As an educationist, she teaches, trains and mentors medical students and postgraduate doctors, preparing them to be global doctors of the future.
