Bio
Wolfram Sparber is working to accelerate energy transition since over 15 years.
He does this from an applied research point of view, leading a research institute with well over 100 collaborators.
Working as chairman and vice chairman in the boards in one of the leading Italian renewable energy utilities allowed him to implement innovations and get a clear understanding of energy markets.
On European level, as vice president of technology and innovation platforms and leading sector associations, he is advocating for a faster transition and adequate allocation of resources for innovation of the entire energy system. He is convinced that, if handled in the right way, this transformation is a major environmental and economic opportunity for Europe.
In research he has been working in renewable energy systems for many years. Recently his interest shifted to e-mobility and its integration in energy systems. E-mobility has the opportunity to decarbonize an entire sector which up to now was nearly 100% fossil and to do this in less than two decades. Further he is working on overall energy systems modelling, in order the better understand the interconnection and effects of each single technological change. The objective is the identification of the smoothest and most cost efficient path way towards a complete decarbonization of the energy system.
