Bio
Wolfram Fürbeth got a Diploma in Chemistry from the University of Dortmund. In 1992 he went to the Max-Planck-Institute for Iron Research to start work on corrosion in the group of Martin Stratmann being moved to Erlangen on the chair for Corrosion and Surface Technology in 1994. There he finished his Ph.D. in materials sciences in 1997. In the same year he joined DECHEMA as a research scientist being appointed in 2005 as head of the corrosion research group at DECHEMA Research Institute. In 2012 he finished his habilitation in materials technology at RWTH Aachen Technical University where he is giving lectures on corrosion and corrosion protection. Finally RWTH appointed him as Adjunct Professor in 2018. Current research interests are in new coating systems as well as corrosion of new materials or in new technologies. In the scientific community Wolfram Fürbeth serves since 2023 as President of the German Corrosion Society GfKORR, before he has been chairman of its Scientific Advisory Board from 2017 - 2022. In the EFC European Federation of Corrosion he has serving as chairman of the Science and Technology Advisory Committee from 2017 - 2022 and as chairman of Working Party Coatings since 2012.
