He has published research on text comprehension, text-picture integration, learning from animation, multimedia learning, and conceptual change.
Schnotz was member of the International Reading Expert Group for PISA of the OECD, Chief Editor of the international journal Learning and Instruction, head of the Graduate School on Teaching and Learning Processes at the University of Koblenz-Landau (funded by the German Science Foundation) and head of the university’s multimedia research group. He is editorial board member of numerous journals. His current research interests include the conjoint cognitive processing of different sign systems in multimedia learning.
