Professional Accomplishments For NIDA, supervised development of the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) study. This ongoing project, jointly sponsored by NIDA and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, is a large scale longitudinal population study with 45,971 study subjects and uses both surveys and biological assessments of tobacco exposures, risk factors and health outcomes. Served as a member of the Revision Task Force for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition (DSM-5). Awarded several prominent awards and distinctions, including the Senior Scholar Health Services Research Award from the American Psychiatric Association, the Paul Hoch Award from the American Psychopathological Association, the Leveraging Collaboration Award from the Food and Drug Administration, and the Health and Human Services Secretary’s Awards for Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service. Member of Alpha Omega Alpha medical education honor society, and fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychopathological Association and the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology.
