Bio
My research is in physical metallurgy, a field that forms the basis for understanding the properties and performance of materials. My work includes investigations of the mechanisms and kinetics of phase transformations, which are often used to control the physical and mechanical properties of a variety of engineering materials. Theoretical aspects of the work involve mathematical modeling of transport processes and physical properties, and the primary experimental tools I use include transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, optical microscopy and field-ion microscopy/atom probe.
