My major focus is medicinal chemistry/drug discovery, particularly in the context of cancer. I currently study two enzymes of interest: glutaminase and tissue transglutaminase. Each plays key roles in the development and progression of numerous cancers, and effective chemical therapeutics against either target could be of broad use to a wide patient population as a result. I prefer a multi-disciplinary approach to most problems, combining chemical, biological, and computational techniques as appropriate to make advances that a single-field approach might not readily yield.
