Bio
Wenyi is a problem solver, technologist, and systems architect with solid skills on sensors, computer vision, robotics, and visualization. He has extensive research, development and management experience. He currently works at Surgical Robotics Operating Unit of Medtronic to lead the RD efforts of Visualization & Navigation and Data & Analytics. From May 2017 to June 2020, he worked at Magic Leap to help push Spatial Computing into main stream. From March 2014 to April 2017, he worked at DAQRI to lead real-time visual inertial navigation and helmet/glasses calibration that are two key enablers for Augmented Reality products. From 2011 to 2013, he built and maintained local End2End R&D ecosystem while managing & growing the medical imaging group at Philips Research Asia. Prior to that, he led applied research efforts of product and IP portfolio in the area of optical imaging & visualization, robotic vision & navigation at Intuitive Surgical. He accumulated his research experience on image processing, computer vision and pattern recognition at the Vision Technologies Lab of Sarnoff Corporation (formerly RCA Labs) in Princeton.
