Weizhong Zheng

Weizhong Zheng received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from Nanjing University, Nanjing, China, in 1982, 1985, and 1999, respectively. He received professional training from the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Nanjing University. Since 1985, he has been with Nanjing University, the University of L’Aquila, L’Aquila, Italy, and the University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA. He joined NOAA/NESDIS as a Scientist in 2002, and then moved to NOAA/NCEP/Environmental Modeling Center, College Park, MD, in 2007. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications. His research interests focus on numerical weather prediction and data assimilation, including development and improvement of parameterizations of physical processes in the numerical models as well as monitoring and improvement of satellite data utilization over land in the NCEP operational numerical weather prediction modeling and data assimilation systems.
