Bio
Dr. Weimin Zhou is a research physicist and the team leader of RF-Photonics team at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory (ARL) at Adelphi, MD. Dr. Zhou is a visionary research leader in the areas of RF-Photonics research and development. He has worked to revolutionize the RF/microwave technology, making it possible to achieve higher performance and to add new capabilities to the RF Radar, communication, sensing, positioning, navigation and timing systems. His current research activities also span into semiconductor integrated-photonics and novel nano-photonic metamaterial and devices. His pioneering research has led to over 25 patents and 130+ publications. He has been a strong advocate for the Photonics research community. He served as a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s agent, on numerous programs. He has also served as a co-chairs and committee members for a number of SPIE-Photonics West’s conferences, IEEE AVFOP and RAPID conferences. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics from Universite de Toulouse, France (in 1983) and the Ph.D. degree in Physics from Northeastern University in 1991. Before joining ARL he has worked at Bellcore as a member of technical staff in 1990. Dr. Zhou is a Fellow of OPTICA (formerly OSA), a senior member of IEEE and a life member of SPIE.
