Dr Wei Liu is a member of the Communist Party of China and Deputy Director of the National Experimental Teaching Center of Animal Science. Dr Liu works as an Associate Professor, who is qualified for supervising Master’s students. Dr Liu is a Science and Technology Commissioner of Hunan Province, a panel member of the Changsha Science and Technology Project Evaluation committee, and a member of Hunan Provincial Preventive Medicine Association The 12th Parasitic Disease Specialty Committee. Dr Liu works as guest editor for "pathogens, animals, Veterinary Science" and editorial board member of poultry and poultry disease control. Dr Liu is the course coordinator and lecturer for three courses, namely Introduction to Veterinary Medicine, Introduction to Zoology and Animal Protection. Dr Liu also developed a high-quality online course named Experimental Zoology. He was in charge of 5 school-level educational innovation projects and published 8 papers in the educational innovation area. He supervised one provincial university student’s innovation project, and published 12 articles via supervising undergraduates. Dr Liu’s research interests include epidemiology, molecular pathogenesis and disease prevention of animal parasites. He was the chief investigator for 4 science and technology projects of Hunan Province, 2 projects of Hunan Education Department, 6 projects of Hunan Animal Husbandry and Aquatic Product Bureau, and 3 horizontal projects with Hunan Agricultural University. Dr Liu holds 1-third prize in Hunan Province Natural Science Award, 1-second prize or third prize in the University Natural Science Award. He published more than 80 scientific research papers, including 27 SCI papers as first author or corresponding author. A list of 5 SCI representative papers is as follows: 1. Technical Regulations for Diagnosis of Sheep Coccidiosis, Hunan Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, DB43/T 904-2014, 2014, (first author). Dr Liu also holds three practical patents, which are as follows: 1. A petri dish for in vitro preservation of schizophrenia, patent number: ZL 202122369893.5 (first author); 2. An extraction device for alkaloids in Coptis chinensis, patent number: ZL 202220092625.5 (first author); 3. A device for advancing worm eggs, patent number: ZL 202221149633.5 (first author).
