Bio
Dr. de Sousa is bachelor of Physics from State University at Ponta Grossa (Brazil) and has experience in Applied Superconductivity. Currently he is Researcher of the Institute for Technical Physics (ITEP) in the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT - Germany). Dr. de Sousa is member of the Superconducting Materials for Energy Applications group, where he develops strategical studies for energy systems using superconducting devices. His area of expertise is the development of suitable simulation tools for superconducting equipament to be used in power systems. His doctoral project at the ITEP/KIT was supported by the following agencies: Electric Power Research Center (CEPEL-Brazil), National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq-Brazil) and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD-Germany). Between 2015 and 2016 was Sub-coordinator of the Laboratory for Applied Superconductivity (LASUP) in Brazil and between 2016 and 2018, was lecturer at the Carl Benz School of Engineering in Karlsruhe (Germany). Recently, he became board member of the HTS Modelling Workgroup (an international group for the modelling of high temperature superconductors).
