个人简介
W. Nickobtained his PhD from University of Karlsruhe, Germany. He graduated with work on stability and heat transfer for low temperature superconductors, at that time referring to the development of large superconducting coils for nuclear fusion (LCT). In his professional career he worked within various branches of Siemens, first as a specialist for superconductors, then for sc magnets, and finally whole systems. He made contributions to investigate the potential of superconducting magnetic energy storage for grid stabilization. Then he coordinated a group to develop technology for a high-voltage superconducting transmission cable. He is presently project manager for HTS rotor and cooling system in the Siemens project to develop rotating machines on basis of high-temperature superconductivity.
