个人简介
My main interest is the human brain; in particular, the relationship between the microvasculature and dementia, and intracranial pressure and dementia.
I started my research in developing mathematical models of the human brain microvasculature in order to investigate perfusion and pressure in both health and disease (this was the topic of my DPhil (PhD)).
I then went on to using signal processing and machine learning techniques to aid in the development of non-invasive intracranial pressure measurements through the movement of the tympanic membrane, as well as through transcranial Doppler.
I am now working on unifying these macro-scale measurements, such as ICP, with micro-scale models of the vasculature. Understanding how the microvasculature changes with cognitive decline, and how this then appears in measurements such as non-invasive ICP or transcranial doppler, will hopefully allow me to pick up on dementia earlier in hospitals and understand how to treat it. Effectively, I am looking to develop non-invasive early markers of vascular changes.
Interests: multi-scale modelling, the human brain, blood flow and oxygen metabolism in the brain, vascular dementia, stroke, blood brain barrier, neurovascular coupling, computational neuroscience, machine learning, big data
