Bio
Vladimir A. Hovhannisyan was born in Abovyan, Armenia, in 1955. He received the Diploma degree in physics from Yerevan State University, Yerevan, Armenia, in 1977, and the Ph.D. degree in quantum electronics from the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia, in 1987.
Between 1977 and 1999, he was a Staff Scientist in “Laserayin Tekhnika” R&D Company, Yerevan State University, where he was involved (during 1977–1980) in defense-oriented research on upconversion, visualization, and tracking of infrared images. Between 1999 and 2006, he was a Senior Staff Scientist, Head of “Biomedical Optics” Research Group, Yerevan Physics Institute, Yerevan. During 1999–2005, he carried out research on biomedical optics in International Laser Center, Bratislava, Slovak Republic; National Technical University of Athens, Athens, Greece; MLM GmbH, Teltow, Germany. Since 2007, he has been with the Department of Physics, National Taiwan University, where he is currently a Visiting Specialist. He is the author of about 60 scientific publications. His research interests include near-infrared spectroscopy and multiphoton microscopy, ultrafast and nonlinear photoprocesses in organic molecules, photochemical therapy, and fluorescence diagnostics of cancer.
Dr. Hovhannisyan is a member of the Optical Society of America.
