Bio
Born in Udine (Italy) on the 14th of February 1971, he graduated in Medicine on the 24th of March 1997 at the University of Padua (Italy) where he has also obtained a degree in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgery on the 16th of Febrauary 2002 (final score: 70/70). His clinical and research activities have continuously proceeded since 1997 at the Institute of Plastic Surgery of the University of Padua where he currently covers the role of Assistant Professor. He obtained a Doctorate in "Tissue engineering and transplants" and he was awarded of a scholarship for a research on "Reconstruction of small caliber arteries" and he has obtained other research fundings at the Dipartment of Histology, Microbiology and Medical Biotechnology for the research project "In vitro reconstruction of microvascular adipose tissue".
Beside research activties, confirmed by various publications on international journals (Global IF 2011: 116,364 - H index 2011:13), a large number of lectures at national and international meetings (104) and the achievement of different national research grant (among which: FIRB Future in Researc € 202.500), his clinical activity includes relevant roles in the management of the in-patient clinics and ward as well as in the OR. In addition, he is Consultant in Plastic Surgery at the Unit of General Surgery of the Castelfranco Veneto Hospital. He is Secretary of the no-profit association "Help for Life", he has taken part to different humanitarian missions in developing countries (India, Palestine, Ethiopia) and he is directly involved in the development of humanitarian projects.
In order to broaden his experience and formation he was visiting scholar at the Washington University School of Medicine (St.Louis, USA), at the Clinic of Plastic Surgery of the University of Innsbruck (under the ERASMUS program), at the O'Brien Institute of Microsurgery (Melbourne, Australia) and at the Aesthetic Institute (Los Angeles, California).
Currently, his research activities are focused on the development of tissues in vitro, taking part to different research projects and contributing directly at the fund raising for the research activties. He has developed different in vivo experimental models for the investigation of tissue-engineered products, with particular reference to vascular prosthesis, of the regenerative mechanisms of skeletric muscles and of the survival processes of grafted adipose tissue. An active collaboration exists between the University of Padua, an industrial partner (FAB: Fidia Advanced Biopolymers) and the Hospital of Padua. This collaboration allows a continuous exchange of experiences between experts in biotechnologies, medical doctors and surgeons, supporting the large-scale production of tissue-engineered devices. Moreover, a strong collaboration has been established between the Clinic of Plastic Surgery, the Clinic of Vascular Surgery, the Department of Histology, Microbiology and Medical Biotechnologies and the Inter-departimental Center of Miology the development of in vivo experimental models.
