Vincenzo Convertito is a Senior Researcher at Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia since November 2020. He graduated in Physics at the University of Naples Federico II with a thesis on seismic tomography in 2000. He was awarded two fellowships in 2000 and 2001 and with a Post-doc contract of collaboration with the Department of Physics at the University of Naples Federico II from 2005 to 2007. In March 2004 he was awarded a Ph.D. in Seismic Risk at the University of Naples Federico II. In 2004 he was Professor of Statistics at Universita’ del Molise, Isernia. From 16/10/2005–31/12/2020, he was a Researcher at Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (Italy) where he covered the following roles: Referent of the earthquake activity line in the section board of the Vesuvian Observatory; Referent of the earthquake activity line in the section board of the Vesuvian Observatory; Head of the Seismic Hazard Laboratory at the Vesuvian Observatory; Head of the Seismic Hazard Laboratory at the Vesuvian Observatory; On-call seismologist at the monitoring room of the Vesuvian Observatory from 2016 to 2020; Monitoring room operator at Osservatorio Vesuviano since 2007. He participated in several commissions for both research grant and permanent researcher positions at Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia and examination commission at Dept of Physics University of Naples Federico II. He has been a lecturer of Seismic Hazard for the Ph.D. in Seismic Risk at the University of Naples Federico II, Master Thesis, and Ph.D. thesis supervisor. In 2012 he received the National Scientific Habilitation as Associate Professor in Geophysics and Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Physics of the Earth and Planets. The research activity of Dr. Vincenzo Convertito has dealt with several topics in the field of seismic hazard (probabilistic and deterministic), seismic source (kinematic parameters, directivity), induced seismicity, ground motion prediction equations, strong ground motion simulation, earthquake early warning, inversion theory, and recently the application of deep learning in seismology. During his career he has established several partnerships with researchers from national and international universities and institutions. He is a reviewer for several national and international journals, and he has operated as an external reviewer of research projects. He has been responsible of both WP leader and Task leader for national and international projects. Dr Convertito expertise and professional background are reflected in his publications in books chapters, national and international peer-reviewed journals and proceedings of international congresses.
