Bio
Dr. Menec’s research focuses primarily on older adults. Her interests lie in the areas of social determinants of healthy aging, social inclusion (e.g., social isolation and loneliness, which are major health risks), and age-friendly communities as a way to promote healthy aging. An emphasis is community-based research in partnership with community organizations.
She has published extensively in the field of aging. She has served on many advisory committees, including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Aging from 2005 to 2011, and the board of the Canadian Association on Gerontology (CAG) from 2014-2020, first as chair of the social science division and subsequently as vice-president.
