His major research fields are radioecology and nondestructive analysis of Cultural Heritage Objects. From 2000 he was engaged as leading analyst for gamma and XRF spectrometry in accredited laboratories. Since 2005 he actively participated in the development and application of portable non-destructive analytical techniques (XRF and FTIR) for the study of cultural heritage objects, with which numerous projects were realized resulting non-destructive examination of artistic paintings, icons, frescoes, archaeological ceramics and other artifacts was carried out.
In the period from 2005 to 2019, he participated as a national coordinator and active participant in 5 related projects organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency as well in one bilateral project, which were dedicated to the application of nuclear methods in the study of cultural heritage objects:
IAEA RER1006: Nuclear Techniques for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Artefacts in the Mediterranean Region,2005-2007.
IAEA RER8015: Using Nuclear Techniques for the Characterization and Preservation of Cultural Heritage Artefacts in the European Region, 2009-2012.
IAEA RER0034: Enhancing the Characterization, Preservation and Protection of Cultural Heritage Artefacts, 2012-2013.
IAEA RER0039: Extending and Diversifying the Application of Nuclear Technology in Cultural Heritage, 2014-2015.
IAEA RER1018: Harmonizing Non-Destructive Testing, Training and Certification for Civil Engineering and Cultural Heritage, 2018-2020.
Bilaterall project:
Research projects of particular relevance selected within the frame of the Executive Programme of Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the Italian Republic and Republic of Serbia-Technologies applied to cultural heritage:
Development and implementation of two novel portable instruments for the analysis of Cultural Heritage: portable scanner XRF and portable XRD, 2014-2015.
He was a part of national project dedicated to research of period of the prehistory and early history of the Balkans (2011-2019) and presently he is engaged in national project funded by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovations, dedicated to the application of portable analytical equipment for the study of cultural heritage objects.
