V. B. Yakubov

Valerii B. Yakubov was born in Bryansk region, Russia, in 1940. He received the degree in theoretical physics from the Moscow Physical Engineering Institute, Moscow, Russia, in 1962, and the Candidate's and Doctor's degrees in physics and mathematics from the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Physics (VNIIEF), Sarov, Russia, in 1972 and 1993, respectively. Since 1962, he has been with the Russian Federal Nuclear Center, VNIIEF, where he is currently the Head of the Laboratory. His main areas of scientific interests are in controlled thermonuclear fusion, physics of high energy densities, ultrahigh-magnetic-field physics, and astrophysics.
