Bio
Valerio Caleffi received a Ph.D. degree in civil engineering from the University of Ferrara in 2003. He is an Associate Professor of Hydraulics at the Department of Engineering, University of Ferrara, Italy. His research interests are mainly devoted to the numerical modeling of the 1D and 2D shallow water equations, with fixed and mobile bed, to be applied to engineering problems (e.g., two-phase-solid and liquid-free surface flows with intense sediment transport; free surface subcritical and supercritical flows in bends; and Dam break modeling). His expertise is focused on high-order numerical schemes (e.g., WENO and Runge-Kutta discontinuous Galerkin schemes). His research interests are also devoted to classical problems in hydraulics (e.g., theoretical investigation on the hydraulic jump: mass, linear momentum, and angular momentum conservation laws) and biofluid mechanics.
