Valery G. Shpak

Valery G. Shpak was born in 1944. He received the M.Sc. and Candidate Sciences degrees in electrovacuum devices from the Institute of Radioelectronics, Tomsk, Russia, in 1967 and 1980, respectively, and the Dr.Sc. degree from the Institute of High Current Electronics, Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Tomsk, in 1989. He was with the Institute of High Current Electronics, RAS. Since 1986, he has been the Head of the Laboratory of Electron Accelerators, Institute of Electrophysics, RAS, Yekaterinburg, Russia. Most of his publications are devoted to fast processes and compact pulsed power equipment operating on the nanosecond and subnanosecond scales. Dr. Shpak has been a Corresponding Member of RAS since 1997. He was a recipient of the State Prize of the Russian Federation in Science, in 1998, and the Yablochkov Prize of RAS, in 2012.
