Bio
Professor Vincent Grolleau joined ETH in 2017. He is a Professor at the Université
de Bretagne Sub (Lorient, France) where he is a member of the IRDL laboratory,
CNRS UMR 6027. He received the ‘Agrégation de Génie Mécanique’ in 1991, and
obtained his PhD from Ecole Centrale de Nantes in the field of metal cutting and
manufacturing of machined surfaces. His research interests focus on the
development of new experimental techniques as well as explicit damping
algorithms. For example, he developed an original catapult and an original high
strain rate bulge test. Prof. Grolleau's current projets focus on the mechanical behavior of birch plywood at high strain
rates at cryogenic temperature; the ductile fracture of metals during bi-axial and plane strain tension, as well as axisymetric torsion.
Among other companies, he collaborated with GazTransport Technigaz, Naval Group, Autoliv, CNES, Plastimo, Arcelor Mittal.
