Bio
Summary:
• Interdisciplinary researcher at the junction of Mechanical Engineering and Materials sciences.
• Expert in tuning the structure-property relationships of polymers and propose design strategies for new materials development.
• Adept in providing insights to the underlying polymer physics through multi-scale computational modeling.
Technical Skills:
• Experimentation - Fabrication of cellulose based polymeric materials (using techniques such as TEMPO-mediated oxidation), followed by materials property evaluation through tensile testing, three-point bending, ballistic tests, dynamic mechanical analysis and Split-Hopkinson bar tests.
• Material characterization techniques - Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-Ray Scattering, Rheometry, Zeta Potential Analysis.
• Computational methods – Atomistic and coarse-grained molecular dynamics, Monte Carlo, Continuum Mechanics, FEM.
• Materials modeling software - LAMMPS, VASP, Materials Studio, NAMD, Phonopy, VMD, OVITO.
• Data processing and visualization – Python, MATLAB, Excel, R, C++, LabVIEW, CircuitLab.
Mentoring Experience:
• Teaching Assistant (TA) in various capacities across multiple undergraduate/graduate courses, such as “Applied Machine Learning for Engineering and Design”, “Electronics and Instrumentation”, “Remote Sensing”, “Engineering Mechanics” and “Heat Transfer".
Professional Philosophy:
• Always looking to collaborate with other materials scientists/engineers who can put my skills to test, help me learn new techniques and aid me in the quest of new materials development.
