Ugochukwu's research is at the interface between chemistry and engineering. He studies the chemistry of materials for sustainable energy, infrastructure, and the environment. Specifically, he had focused on water quality monitoring for domestic and industrial uses, with an emphasis on instrumentation, chemometrics, and artificial intelligence approaches. Currently, he has tailored his research towards the characterization of nv-PM emissions from aircraft engines, the production of sustainable fuels, and the utilization of industrial wastes for the circular economy. Ugochukwu worked as a laboratory scientist at the Chevron-owned Escravos-Gas-to-Liquids plant, having many years of hands-on experience with spectroscopic and chromatographic equipment. His knowledge is not limited to using and maintaining specialized instruments like Differential Mobility Spectrometer, Advanced Particle Counter, Micro Soot Sensor, Rheometer, Calorimeter, PSD Analyzers, M3&M4 Reformulyzer, SimDis, Oxytracers, HPLC, and Refinery Gas Analyzer GCs. But his expertise also extends to equipment like XRF, Analytik Jena, GF-AAS spectrometer, ICP-OES, Nippon Mercury Analyzer, HACH Spectrophotometer, and numerous Metrohm products, such as Titrando and Titrino, used in the oil and gas industry. He's passionate about research and embraces opportunities to broaden his research knowledge, and he's open to exploring new research domains.
