Bio
Dr Tuan Nguyen is an Advance Queensland Industry Research Fellow (AQIRF) at Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI), The University of Queensland (UQ). Tuan’s research lies at the intersection of Colloid & Interface Science, Geochemistry, Polymer, and Molecular Simulation & Modelling. Tuan is involved in a wide range of research activities in various disciplinary and interdisciplinary contexts, including Minerals/Oil/Gas processing, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering, Materials Development (Polymer Science and Nanotechnology), and Agriculture. Tuan is currently working toward "green" and sustainable solutions for mineral processing and transforming waste streams from mining industry, specifically focus on Aluminum Refinery, Base Metals (Copper/Lead/Zinc), and Coal Tailings. Tuan has published >40 research papers in leading international journals, i.e. Journal of Chemical Engineering, ACS Langmuir, Environmental Science & Technology, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Chemical Geology, Science of the Total Environment, Chemosphere, etc. Tuan’s research have had ~1000 citations (H-index 15, 03/2021) and been awarded for “Best Journal Papers in Chemical Engineering for 2013”(UQ), “Top Cited Papers for 2011 and 2012” and “Top 25 most cited papers published 2012-2016” by the Chemical Engineering Science Journal, and Best poster prize “The IUPAC Poster Award at the World Polymer Congress MACRO 2018”. Tuan has secured research funding from ARC, QLD AQIF, ACARP, UQ-ECR, Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation, and different industry partners.
