Career Trajectory
Bio
As a future physician-scientist training in public health, I am uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between institutional and community medicine. I am committed to understanding and rectifying health disparities ona global scale. My research goals are to evaluate and improve prehospital care in underserved communities.
Specifically, I am interested in studying how pre-emergency health services may prevent disease progression and medical escalation in low-and-middle-income countries. I seek to understand and address the pre-emergency needs of underserved communities in low andmiddle-income countries. I aspire to cultivate my clinical, operational, and statistical skills to achieve thisgoal and cement my position as a capable researcher in the field of international implementation science.
My academic training program and research experiences work together to make this goal attainable. I bear a robust mathematical and science education as well as a diverse research background with a measurable yield of presentations and publications. As an undergraduate, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Mathematics while completing biomathematics, clinical, and biochemical research at Emory University and the Centers for Disease Control. As a preclinical medical student, I developed a biomedical understanding of health. As a Doctoral candidate and Fulbright-Hays Fellow, I applied my learnings and skills to implement a pediatric telemedicine and medication delivery service in Ghana. Today, I serve as the Operational Director of MotoMeds Telemedicine and Medication Delivery Service in Ghana.
My training program at the University of Florida enables me to pursue a transdisciplinary approach that integrates tutelage from Dr. Torben Becker, a physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine who holds the positions of Director of Prehospital Care and Director of Global Health Programs, and Dr. Eric
Nelson, a pediatrician appointed both in the Department of Pediatrics and Department of Global and Environmental Health. I strive to join my mentors in the small force of physician-scientists trained in public health working at the intersection of clinical practice and implementation science research.
Long term, I aspire to be an obstetrician and gynecologist, public health researcher, and instructor/mentor at an academic institution. In each of these roles, I plan to promote the continued importance of prehospital care and, more generally, sustainable global health outreach for the betterment of universal health.
