Bio
Dr. Tolga Görüm received his MSc. in Physical Geography from Istanbul University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 2003, and his PhD in Earth System Sciences from the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation of the University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands in 2013. His current research explores landform evolution and geomorphological processes using Geographic Information System (GIS), Remote Sensing (RS) technologies and field based measurements. Major focus of his research is on mass movements and hillslope processes. Lately his attention has been on the interactions of tectonic, climatic, and geomorphic processes and their influence on the large aseismic or coseismic bedrock landslides in tectonically active mountainous terrain. Rates of landsliding and their role on landscape evolution are investigated using both field- and GIS & RS based data for study fields worldwide (China, Haiti, North America and Anatolian Plateau). His published work includes studies of the tectonic and sub-marine geomorphology and coseismic landslides in different tectonic and geomorphic environments (Wenchuan (China), Haiti, Aisen (Chile) and Denali (Alaska), and the analysis of digital topography.
