Bio
Tim Niewelt studied materials science with Technische
Universität Darmstadt, Darmstadt, Germany. He wrote his diploma thesis on the topic of lifetime characterization
of defects in crystalline silicon in collaboration with Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer
ISE), Freiburg, Germany, and received the Diploma degree (with distinction) from Technische Universität Darmstadt
in 2012.
He is currently with Fraunhofer ISE, where he is working on his dissertation. His research on defects in
monocrystalline silicon is focused on light-induced degradation.
