Tim McCarthy received the Ph.D. degree from the University of London (Birkbeck), London, U.K., in 1999. He is currently a Principal Investigator with the National Centre for Geocomputation, Maynooth University, Maynooth, Ireland. He has more than 25 years’ experience in researching and developing innovative geospatial technologies. He is the Irish National Chair for EU Copernicus Program and is actively engaged in geospatial research across various sectors and currently providing technology support to a number of start-ups ventures based around mobile devices and drones.
