Bio
I graduated in Physics, specialised into Biophysics. For one and half decades I was primarily an electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopist studying spin-labelled membranes and proteins and free radical reactions. In 1999 I became a group leader and extended my researcher profile to a more general interest in biophysics of biomembranes and membrane transport proteins, and with other techniques such as fluorescence and infrared spectroscopy, calorimetry and molecular modelling. Specific current projects include the rotary mechanism of the vacuolar proton-ATPase, protein folding and structure prediction with machine learning and molecular mechanics, free radicals in native biomembranes, and psychoacoustics.
