个人简介
Thomas Odey Magu is an early career research Scientist and a Lecturer at the Department of Pure & Applied Chemistry, University of Calabar, Nigeria. His primary duties are to teach undergraduates, supervise research projects, invigilate examinations, grade scripts and resolve strategic issues related to sciences and technology improvement. He is a committed seasoned Lecturer & a Research Scientist. He is highly passionate about the role of science in creating a better world and also working in a Development Advisory team that will provide innovative solutions to contemporary development challenges (Sustainable Development Goals). He has a strong commitment to strengthening Africa’s human capacity – especially through mentoring, educating the youths - to drive social and economic prosperity. This has informed him of strong interests in the emerging technology sector in Africa and how it intersects with education, poverty eradication, employability, nonprofits and innovation. I have an interest in environmental preservation and developing new catalysts which will support the advancement of several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG (#3, #4, #6, #7, #13 & #17): To ensure access to good health and well-being, clean water and sanitation, affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. My area of focus and interest is to develop an innovative catalytic system with high performance from the point of environmentally greener processes, economical efficiency and minimum consumption of resources. His research interest lies in the following areas: Sustainable/Green Chemistry, Renewable energy, Catalysis and Environmental remediation (Wastewater recycling).
