Bio
Thomas John has been a Scientist with the Radio Science Division of CSIR-National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi and contributed toward the design and development of scientific payloads for balloon, rocket, and satellite experiments for upper atmospheric and ionospheric studies, since 1983. He also got expertise in atmospheric instrumentation for ground-based measurements. He was a core Member of the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) team, which designed and fabricated the RPA aeronomy satellite payloads flown aboard the Indian satellites SROSS-C (1992) and SROSS-C2 (1994). In subsequent years, he contributed to the design and development of the Mid-FACE (Free Air Carbon dioxide Enrichment) facility in India for the study of agricultural crops under elevated carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Another contribution relates to the indigenous development of the phased array acoustic wind profiler at NPL, New Delhi, India. In 2013, he joined LF, HF Impedance and DC Metrology Section and became the Leader in 2015. He is currently the Head of the LF HF Impedance and DC Metrology Section with the CSIR-NPL.
