个人简介
I am a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at DESY in Hamburg in the Theory Group. Previously I undertook my first Post-doctoral Research Associate position in the Particle Theory and Phenomenology group at UCL. My physics career began at Cambridge, undertaking a Bachelor's degree and Master's degree at the University of Cambridge from 2010-2014 at the Cavendish Laboratory. I was then fortunate enough to stay on at Cambridge to complete a PhD in Theoretical Particle Physics at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) with Professor Benjamin Allanach as my supervisor. Since October 2022 I work with Professor Frank Tackmann and collaborators in the DESY Theory Group and globally. Since October 2018 I have worked with Professor Robert Thorne at UCL and others around the world during my postdoc.
My recent research has largely focused upon two main areas - parton distribution functions (PDFs) and resummation. PDFs are simultaneously one of the key inputs to all physics analyses at a hadron collider (such as the LHC) and an important output of the increasing amounts of data and precision measurements coming out of colliders. Meanwhile resummation is essential in order to produce theoretical predictions of sufficient accuracy to fully exploit the power of the LHC in probing the standard model at unprecedented precision.
On PDFs I am a key member of and contributor to the MSHT20 PDF group and of the PDF4LHC21 combination group. Both are internationally-renowned groups working in this area to produce PDFs including the most up-to-date theoretical calculations and experimental datasets for use at the LHC in contemporary and future analyses and elsewhere. This work offers many opportunities for international collaboration with theorists, phenomenologists and experimentalists including at CERN. Indeed I am involved in an LHC Electroweak working group project in this area. MSHT is an ongoing project and there is much future research continuing in this area.
In resummation I am one of two authors of the reSolve transverse momentum resummation code for the Drell-Yan and diphoton processes. In addition I am involved in an LHC Electroweak working group analysis of the theoretical predictions and uncertainties for Drell-Yan transverse momentum spectra. This includes contributions from several codes all making these calculations in different ways, including my reSolve code. I have also recently joined the GENEVA collaboration which aims for NNLO+PS predictions of improved accuracy by matching with resummed predictions in the resolution variable.
In the past I have also worked in Beyond Standard Model Physics and retain an ongoing interest in this area. I have used my reSolve resummation program to investigate the effects of resummation on Z' signals at future LHC runs. During my PhD I was the author of the SoftSusy decay calculator which determines the decay rates for supersymmetric and Higgs particles in the Minimal and Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Models.
