Thayza Christina Montenegro Stamford has a Bachelor's degree in Dentistry from the Federal University of Pernambuco (1998), a Master's degree in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2001) and a PhD in Biological Sciences in the area of concentration Applied Microbiology from the Federal University of Pernambuco (2006), and Postdoctoral in Pediatric Dentistry from the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Pernambuco (2007).She is leader of the Food Science and Technology Research Group (UFPE), and participates in the research groups Development of Chemical and Biotechnological Solutions – IATI, In vitro and in vivo biological tests of natural and synthetic products – UFPE, Biotechnology, Cellular and Molecular Biology – UNICAP , and Technological and Environmental Processes - UNICAP. Thayza Stamford, is a Prof. Associate of the Tropical Medicine Area, at the Medical Sciences Center of the Federal University of Pernambuco, since 2012, Coordinator of the Applied Microbiology Laboratory (since 2015), and Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Nutrition (since 2022). She was Coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in Dentistry at Faculdade Integrada de Patos, Paraíba-Brazil (2007-2008), and Professor. Assistant to the Department of Pathology and Physiology of the Health Sciences Center of the Federal University of Paraíba (2008-2012). Participates as a Professor. effective of the Postgraduate Program in Biotechnology-PPGBIOTEC (since 2014), and the Postgraduate Program in Nutrition (since 2013), both at the Federal University of Pernambuco. She carries out research at the Keizo Asami Immunopathology Laboratory (ILIKA) at the Federal University of Pernambuco, as a researcher linked to the Biochemistry Laboratory (since 2019). She has experience in the areas of Biotechnology, Applied Microbiology, Food Science and Technology, Bioactive Natural Products, Personal Care Cosmetics, and Biopolymers, with an emphasis on Production and Separation Processes, working mainly on the themes “Production and Characterization of Biopolymers (Chitin and chitosan, biosurfactants, and bacterial cellulose", “Probiotics”, “Antimicrobial activity and Control of Biofilm formation”, “Bioactive packaging”, mainly edible coatings for food preservation, and “"Nanoencapsulated systems" applied in the area of health, food and cosmetics. She is an Ad Hoc evaluator for the following funding agencies: CNPq and FACEPE. She is a Reviewer for more than 13 international journals and Guest Editor for Foods (MDPI), and Frontiers Microbiology (Frontiers). She supervised and co-supervised 22 Master's theses and 13 Doctoral theses. She supervised 30 Scientific Initiation scholarships. She currently supervises 4 doctorates, 3 masters, and 3 scientific initiation students. Coordinates and develops research projects with researchers from public and private higher education institutions. Its research network is interconnected with Brazilian partner groups (UFPE, UFRPE, UPE, UNICAP, IATI, UFRN, UFPB, and UERJ) and international with researchers from the University of Manitoba (Canada), Universidade Católica Portuguesa-Porto (Portugal), and South Australian Research and Development Institute (Australia).
