Dr Tarik Dahoun is an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London, and Specialist Registrar in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the South London and the Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. He studied Medicine at the University of Geneva and since graduating has undertaken integrated academic clinical training in Psychiatry.
During his clinical training in Geneva, Dr Dahoun started his research career by completing an MD in clinical neuroscience at the University of Geneva in 2014 as a clinician-scientist funded by the Swiss NCCR-SYNAPSY. His doctoral research investigated action simulation in 22q11.2 deletion syndrome and hallucination-prone adolescents using fMRI.
Next, he completed a PhD at Imperial College London in 2019 funded by an EU Marie Curie Initial Training Network grant (IN-SENS Program), examining the effects of the DISC1 gene and environmental risk factors for psychosis on the human dopamine system using PET imaging.
Prior to starting at King's College London, Dr Dahoun held a position as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Oxford University and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, during which he obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2019 and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Research at Oxford University in 2021.
Dr Dahoun’s current research interests are in the genetic and environmental underpinnings of childhood trauma-related psychopathology across the life-course.
