Bio
Takeo Maruyama (M’08) was born in Toyama, Japan, in 1972. He
received the B.E. degree in electrical and electronic engineering, and the M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in physical
electronics from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, in 1997, 1999, and 2002, respectively.
He became a Research Associate with the Research Center for Quantum Effect Electronics, Tokyo Institute of
Technology, in 2002, where he carried out research on the development of semiconductor membrane lasers on silicon
substrates based on direct bonding. Since 2008, he has been with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering,
Kanazawa University, Kanazawa, Japan. His current research interests include photonic integrated devices on a silicon
platform.
Dr. Maruyama is a Member of the Japan Society of Applied Physics and the Institute of Electronics, Information and
Communication Engineers of Japan. He received the Hiroshi Ando Memorial Young Engineer Award from The Foundation of
Ando Laboratory.
