Thirumurthy Velpandian is a Professor ( Pharmacology) at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. His Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacy Laboratories are involved in repurposing and developing drugs for Ocular therapeutics. His group is involved rationalizing drug therapy for various eye diseases and disorders like infections glaucoma, angiogenesis, diabetic complications etc. His group is also involved in addressing the effect of environmental pollutants on human with special reference to eye. His laboratory is supported by grants from ICMR, DST, DBT, DRDO, BMGF, BIRAC and Other pharmaceutical and Start up companies. His hobbies are Bio-electronics, Hindu Art and Theology and Yoga
