Senior Scientist Genomics, coordinator of the Genomics Platform of ILVO
Implementation of novel NGS technologies into ILVOs research and breeding program, with main focus on population genomics in animal and plant populations and microbial communities (www.ilvogenomics.be). The NGS technology portfolio includes: whole genome sequencing, transcriptome sequencing and assembly, 16S and WGS metagenomics, Genotyping-by-Sequencing, targeted resequencing. The experimental platform is established together with dedicated bioinformatics data analysis workflows. NGS technology enables analysis of the genetic composition, the biological properties and the dynamic changes of organisms and populations, under the influence of environmental factors or treatments. Over 20 scientists are currently involved in the establishment of the Genomics Platform. Six PhD students work on the project, in collaboration with the VIB Department of Plant Systems Biology at Ghent University (PSB), other departments of Ghent University, and KU Leuven.
Senior Scientist Genomics, Research group Growth and Development, Plant Sciences Unit, ILVO
Coordinator of IWT-project on the optimisation of plant architecture in crops through molecular breeding; large scale population phenotyping; high-throughput SNP genotyping of plant architecture candidate genes in populations of ryegrass and apple for association genetics; project management, leading teams (fieldwork and molecular laboratory), contact with service and technology providers; monitoring technology development and applications; focus on crop transcriptome sequencing, comparative genomics for ortholog identification and candidate gene selection, and exome-wide molecular marker development.
Post-doctoral Scientist (FOD project GMO-DETEC, ERA-NET project GMOSEEK, FP6 CoExtra), GMO laboratory, Technology and Food Sciences Unit, ILVO
