个人简介
Timothy R. D. Scott (S'87–M88–A'95) received the B.Sc. degree with a double major in physics and pure mathematics, the B.E. degree with honors in electrical engineering, and the Ph.D. degree in neurophysiology from the University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia, in 1986, 1988, and 1994, respectively.
From 1987 to 1990, he worked in industry-based research and development as an Electronic Design Engineer. In 1993, following his doctoral studies, he was awarded the Movement Disorder Foundation Research Fellowship in Biomedical Engineering, which enabled him to travel to the United States of America to pursue biomedical research. From 1993 to 1995, he was Research Associate at the Rehabilitation Engineering Center, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Case Western University, Cleveland, OH. Currently, he is Senior Hospital Scientist in the Spinal Injuries Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, where he leads the Quadriplegic Hand Research Unit, and is a Biomedical Engineering Consultant for Northern Sydney Health. His work primarily concerns applications of functional electrical stimulation (FES) to restore hand function to persons with quadriplegia following spinal cord injury. His research interests include neurophysiology and applications of neural prostheses in rehabilitation, especially following spinal-cord and brain injury.
Dr. Scott is a founding member of the International FES Society and a member of the Australian Society for Medical Research.
