Bio
Sven Eckert studied physics at TU Dresden, Dresden, Germany, during 1985–1990 and received the Ph.D. degree from TU Dresden in 1997, respectively. His thesis was subjected to experimental investigations of turbulent liquid metal channel flows under the influence of external dc magnetic fields.
Since 1997, he has been with the MHD Depart- ment, Institute of Safety Research at Research Center, Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), Dresden. Since 2012, he has been the Head of the Department Magnetohydrodynamics with HZDR. He has about 130 ISI-peer-reviewed journal articles, and is inventor of 15 filed patents. His current research interests include MHD, metals casting and solidification, electromagnetic stirring, two-phase flows, MHD turbulence, convection in liquid metals, liquid metal thermohydraulics in nuclear applications, and measurement techniques for liquid metal flows.
