Suzanne G M A Pasmans

Biographical sketch Prof. Suzanne G.M.A. Pasmans MD PhD completed her medical training in Leiden cum laude. In 1996 she performed her PhD at the University of Amsterdam on IgE -dependent histamine -releasing activity, and graduated as an immunologist. At the Institute Curie, Inserm, Paris she did a research project in molecular biology. In 2000 she completed the training as a Dermatologist in Utrecht. Subsequently, at UMC Utrecht Wilhelmina Children’ Hospital she continued to focus on care and research in (pediatric) allergy and pediatric dermatology (especially food allergies, eczema, the atopy syndrome, vascular anomalies and congenital skin diseases). She has developed innovative care for children with skin disorders (for which she has received prices of the NPCF and dermatologists in the Netherlands) and she is the initiator of The First World Congres on Genodermatoses, DermHome: www.huidhuis.nl also for (rare) skin diseases. She was involved in the NFU e-health program, in ZonMW Clinical Fellow program and in ZonMW Paramedical care. She was initiator and president of the National Task Force Group of Pediatric Dermatology of the Dutch Society of Dermatology and Venereology. She is active in developing guidelines for children with (rare) skin disorders such (congenital nevi, atopic dermatitis). Since June 2013 she is professor of Pediatric Dermatology at the Erasmus MC University Medical Center Rotterdam - Sophia Children's Hospital in care and research in the National Center Pediatric Dermatology. She participated in GenerationR(-Next) (atopic dermatitis and acne vulgaris). She initiated several investigator-initiated projects/trials with unrestricted grants of ZonMW GGG, Ministry of Health, EADV and industries for children with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis/vascular anomalies/ congenital nevi. In 2009 she initiated the National Netherton Cohort, that resulted in the National Netherton Multidisciplinary Expert Center in 2015, 2021 and the first International Netherton Congresses in 2020/ 2021 and Netherton Network. She is board member of the European Society of Pediatric Dermatology and Chair of the trainingscommittee for pediatric dermatology. She is involved in the expert centers of the Ministry of Health for rare skin diseases, Head of the Center for Rare Skin Diseases and in board of the European Reference Network SKIN (leader Christine Bodemer).
