Surinder Singh was born in Hoshiarpur, India, on December 27, 1975. He received the B. Tech. degree from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Regional Engineering College, Jalandhar, India, the M. Tech. degree from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, India, and the Ph.D. degree from Thapar University, Patiala, India, in 1997 and 2003, respectively. He is currently a Senior Lecturer with the Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering and Technology, Bathinda, India, where he has been since 1998. He is also an Associate Professor with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal, India. He has authored or co-authored over 70 research papers out of which 19 are in international journals and 51 are in international and national conferences. His current research interests include optical amplifiers for optical communication systems and networks, and wavelength converters. Dr. Singh is a member of the Indian Society for Technical Education, Institution of Engineers, India.
