Bio
Suresh's research team focuses on two key areas. His team is interested in deciphering the mechanism of plant sensing and responding to temperature changes. They combine mutation analysis, natural variation and genomics to understand the thermal response of plants. The second area is related to understanding the molecular mechanism of genetic diseases. Recently, his team found genetic defects related to triple repeat amplification in Arabidopsis thaliana. Triplet amplification is the basis of several human genetic diseases such as Huntington's disease and friedreich's ataxia. The Arabidopsis thaliana model is strikingly similar to the human condition at the molecular level.
