Heart and Vascular Remodeling, Diabetes, Hypertension, Hyperhomocysteinemia
Suresh C. Tyagi, Ph.D., studies the genetic, molecular and cellular mechanisms that contribute to hypertension diabetes and heart failure. In particular, he studies homocysteine, and amino acid by-product that plays a critical role in artery damage and may be responsible for many heart attacks in individuals who do not display traditional cardiac risk factors. His work may lead to new treatments for these conditions, which afflict millions.
