Suchandra Aich Bhowmick

Mark A. Bourassa received the Ph.D. degree from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA, in 1993. He is currently a Faculty Member with the Department of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences and a Member of the Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies (COAPS) and the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Institute, Tallahassee, FL, USA. He also serves as the Team Leader for the NASA Ocean Vector Wind Science Team; Co-Chair the GCOS/GOOS/WCRP Ocean Observation Panel for Climate; and an Active Member in Shipboard Automated Meteorological and Oceanographic Systems (SAMOS) Working Group, Tallahassee, FL, USA, and the NOAA Expert Team on the State of the Ocean. His research interests include air/sea interaction, remote sensing related to air/sea interaction and the observing system, data fusion, using in situ and remotely sensed observations, combined with models of the atmospheric boundary-layer, to better understand air/sea interaction, and the surface characteristics to which a scatterometer responds.
