个人简介
I am presently working on zoonotic and animal viruses at the Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences Department at South Dakota State University. Here, I am mainly working on coronaviruses in cows, pigs, and wildlife animals including bats. I am a former Assistant Professor (specially appointed) and JSPS postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Plant Science and Resources (IPSR), Okayama University, Japan. My postdoctoral study was mainly focused on mutualistic virus-virus interactions. I completed my B.Sc in Microbiology (Honors) in 2003 and M.Sc in Genetics in 2005 both from the University of Calcutta, India. I obtained my Ph.D. in 2013 from Lincoln University, New Zealand. My Ph.D. research was mainly focused on the identification and characterization of mycoviruses that infect and alter the pathogenic ability of a plant pathogenic fungus Rhizoctonia solani, potentially leading to the future development of novel biocontrol strategies to manage black scurf and stem canker of potato in New Zealand. After completing my Ph.D., I went back to India and joined the Division of Plant Biology, Bose Institute as a SERB Young Scientist with a start-up research grant (for three years). This project was funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), a statutory body under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. My research there was centered on the determination of genetic diversity and pathogenicity of fungi Rhizoctonia solani AG-1-IA and Rhizoctonia oryzae-sativae associated with rice diseases like sheath blight and aggregated sheath spot, respectively. Additionally, I also examined the diversity and distribution of mycoviruses in these fungal pathogens. Before my Ph.D., I worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibers (India) for two years. There, I studied the diversity, distribution, and epidemiology of begomoviruses infecting fiber crops in India. Before taking this position, I worked at the Manovikas Biomedical Research and Diagnostic Centre as a Junior Research Fellow on the association of Glutamate receptor 6 Gene (Glur6 or GRIK2) polymorphisms with the autism spectrum disorder in the Indian population.
