Phil obtained his PhD in cellular immunology from Murdoch University in 1993 and is currently a Senior Lecturer in Pathology in the School of Veterinary and Life Sciences, Murdoch University, Perth, Australia. He has held research fellowships in the Cellular Immunology Unit at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford, the Tumour Immunology Group at the University of Western Australia and the Cell Biology Division at the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research in Perth, where he is currently an Honorary Research Fellow. His main research interests are in understanding the role of dendritic cells and regulatory T cells in immune tolerance and maintenance of immunological homeostasis within the respiratory tract, and how this is disrupted during inflammatory diseases such as allergic asthma and respiratory viral infections.
