Bio
Stijn Vranckx is working as researcher at VITO, where his research focuses on environmental modelling, including air quality modelling and spatially-dynamic land use modelling. After the completion of a Master in Chemistry, he started his scientific career working on a PhD in Atmospheric Chemistry. Upon completion of his Phd work on kinetic studies of crucial atmospheric he built up expertise in combustion modelling and its application to the development of new biofuels. His current research at VITO combines the atmospheric, environmental approach from his PhD with his modelling background. His air quality expertise lies in local and micro-scale modelling, applying bi-gaussian transport and dispersion and CFD models. At VITO, he currently develops for the Flemish administration monitoring tools for environmental quality in Flanders.
